Gift bags

Just popping into add a quick blog entry to show you this lovely gift bags I love to make.  They are super easy and the perfect little item to make at a workshop in your home.  It is great to be able to invite guests to your in-home workshop even if they’re not a card-maker or a scrapbooker.  Being able to make a cute little gift bag like this enables them to see how papercraft can be for everyone! Are you interested in hosting a workshop in your home and making a little project like this? Your guest list need not include only scrapbookers or cardmakers- anyone who loves to give gifts would also love to attend a workshop! Come on- pick out a date and get in touch- I’d love to hear from you!

This little gift bag features a stamp from the “Oval all” stamp set and the co-ordinating scallop oval punch from the Spring Mini!  These two items were on my “must-have ” list when I first saw the Mini Catalogue!

When I am pregnant or breastfeeding I try to limit my intake of caffeine and prefer to drink “Hot Chocolate” instead of coffee.  Yes I know! I know! There is still caffeine in Hot Chocolate but I figure it is better for me than the caffeine in coffee.  Well my days of being pregnant or breastfeeding are definitely OVER and I am really enjoying being able to drink as much coffee and wine as I please…..but I still enjoy having a Hot Chocolate every now and again.

Recently I was having a Hot Chocolate and noticed the label on the sachet “Chocolatte”.  I thought about how great this would look with the “Love you a latte” stamp from Pun Fun……and so there was the inspiration for this little Hot Chocolate Sachet Holder.

Now Just for Fun:  Can you tell how I created the circular ‘window’ in the riding hood red cardstock?  I have used Stampin’ Up! products exclusively- however Stampin’ Up! don’t have a circle punch that large.   If you know how I did it, please send me an E-mail at and you can go into a draw to win a Stampin Pad (colour of your choice).  If you don’t know how I did it and would like to know- please drop me a line at and I will share the little tip!

Those who know me well- will know that I  love these little Chocolate treat holders (and I love a bit of Chocolate too…but who doesn’t it?) To view my FREE tutorial for the Chocolate treat holders- please click on the following link  chocolate-treat-box-tutorial   Please be sure to let  me know if you found it useful!

What I love is that you can create the holder and decorate it it in any number of ways.  This particular Chocolate treat holder has been decorated with a Christmas theme in mind.  The Christmas wreath has been made using the small star punch (Thanks Ros for the great idea!)

Here’s a bit of fun with Stampin’ Up! Cellophane bags.    I just love creating with these little bags- lots of fun things you can make.    Create your own packaging for cards and other handmade items, sweet treat containers, lolly bags for kids paties- Add a topper for the bag, tie with ribbon…..the possibilities are endless.

Due to the fact that they are clear- they don’t jump off the pages of the catalogue and unfortunately many people miss them. You will find them on page 130 of the catalogue.

They come in three sizes.  The small size is 7.6cm x 12.7cm ($7.50), the medium size is 10.2cm x 15.2cm ($8.50) and the large size is 15.2cm x 20.3cm ($9.50).  Are you interested in ordering some cellophane bags from me?  Please be sure to get in touch if you are.  Please read on for the Christmas bags I made.  If you are not tempted now- you might just be soon!

This treat will guide them to your home

Rudolf has a job to do on Christmas Eve- it’s true

His nose will always light the way for Santa and his little sleigh

But if his nose should ever go out don’t cry or whine or yell or shout

Take out this bag and use a bit from Rudolph’s red nose repair kit.

At the end of July, we celebrated Christmas a little early with a gathering of papercraft enthusiasts at my place- making a start on Christmas cards.  A good time was had by all-with the wine flowing and the chocolate coated mini Christmas puddings disappearing quickly!

Are you still keen to make a start on some Christmas cards?  The cardmaking session this month will see us creating another Christmas card for you to put aside ready for Christmas.  We will also be making a Father’s Day card and a card for the arrival of a new baby. Are you tempted to come along?…… Please stay tuned for further details.

One of the cards I showed the participants was the following card I made using the Carousel Notes.  The carousel notes are on page 131 of the catalogue.  You receive 12 scalloped circles– 4 each of Ruby red, Kiwi Kiss and Baja Breeze as well as 12 Chocolate Chip envelopes.  Each scalloped circle is almost 15cm wide and you can decorate them in any number of ways.  You could create a postcard-style card, secure two pieces together- it is only limited by your imagination.  (I have enjoyed using them as a feature on my scrapbook pages as well!)

Anyway I used mine to create a Christmas card in the shape of a Christmas Bauble.  I thought a card like this might be great for a hard to buy adult at Christmas time.  How nice would this look on the Christmas tree?

I love the fact that the colours in the Carousel notes set are a great match for the Holiday Treasures Designer Series paper (page 134 of the catalogue) The Carousel notes come in Kiwi Kiss whereas the green in the Designer series paper is Old Olive- however I have found that the papers still work nicely (I find Old Olive quite similar to Kiwi Kiss- just slightly darker)

To create the card I used the bottom of the scalloped circle to trace onto a piece of the designer series paper.  I secured this patterned paper onto the scallop circle- but only around the edges.  I left the top open to create a pocket for a note, a gift voucher or money.

I then added a stip of ruby red cardstock to the open top of the patterned paper.  I thought this might help to reinforce the area where you would slide in your gift card.  It also gave me the ideal place to stamp a Christmas greeting.  I used a stamp from Many Merry Messages (pg 113)

I stamped the Christmas tree from Season of Joy onto cardstock and then cut out the imge.  Before securing it to the Christmas card I added some Fine Supernova glitter. (page 145) It was simply a matter of using the two way glue pen around the edge of the Christmas tree,  sprinkling on the glitter and allowing it to dry.

To finish off the card- and of course to make it look like a Christmas bauble I used the Round Tab Punch (page 153), folded the punched out shape in half and then added some Hemp twine (page 151)

If you would like to make some cards like this I would recommend
