WORLD CARD MAKING DAY EVENT

World cardmaking day is a holiday especially for card makers around the world so that we can celebrate the creativity of handmade cards and the personal connections that they create betwen friends and family.  It is also a great opportunity to make a start on your cards for upcoming celebrations such as Christmas.   Cardmaking Day isn’t just for experienced crafters.  It is also a lovely way to introduce beginners to the joys of creating handmade cards.

WHEN?

World Card making day is celebrated on the first Saturday of October and I am celebrating by having a get together at my place on the Saturday evening 2nd October

A birthday card for Corey….or should that be Cory

Last weekend one of my children attended a birthday party for one of his best mates at school.   Now bear in mind that it is not uncommon for me to make a card for someone and forget to take a photo. Well in this case I was SO impressed that I had rememberd to take a snapshot of the card before I got my son to write in it.  As soon as my son saw it he said ”Mum- there’s no ‘e’ in his name”.   Eeek! I had made a card with his name on it and spelt it WRONG!!!!!  My son suggested that I just give it to him anyway and apologise for spelling his name wrong.  He even entertained the idea of stamping “I’m so sorry” but that obviously wasn’t going to happen any time this century! :-)

So…… I started another card from scratch and kept this card instead  (Thank goodness for the BIGSHOT!!!!)

….  Perhaps one of the kids will be invited to another birthday party for a child whose name is “Corey” spelt with an ‘e’.

STAMP SET: Curly Cute

BIGSHOT AND BIGSHOT Dies: Simple letters alphabet, Big Bold Cupcakes

OTHER:  Scallop Trim Border Punch, Paper crimper, dazzling diamonds

SECOND HAND- RETIRED STAMP SETS FOR SALE

Although there is lots of excitement surrounding the release of the new catalogue- it also marks the time that I must say goodbye to the ‘retired stamp sets’ that I am no longer able to demonstrate with at workshops and classes.  I wish I could just keep them all but I simply don’t have the space and deep down I know they won’t receive the use and love they deserve- it makes far more sense to see them go to good homes!

I have sorted through my collection and have made the tough decision to sell the following stamp sets.

Please note that I have listed a suggested price- but this should be used as a guide only.   Feel free to negotiate with me on the prices (particularly if you would like to purchase more than one stamp set)

If you are interested in purchasing any of these second hand stamp sets please contact me to let me know which selections you have made and  a suitable time to drop off your stamp sets and collect payment.  I’m afraid that it will be a case of ‘first in best dressed’.     Payment for these stamp sets must be either direct deposit into my account OR cash in person.  If you do not live locally I am more than happy to post you the stamp sets to you anywhere in Australia for the most reasonable price possible!

I recommend that you ‘get in quickly’ as last time I sold my second hand stamp sets they ”went like hotcakes” and there were many people who were disappointed to have missed out!

Happy Anniversary

Today Jason and I celebrate our 11th Year of marriage.  At this time 11 years ago I was probably arriving at the church! Yes I was late….. but it wasn’t my fault!!!  Yes it was Grand Final day but everyone was in such happy spirits!  We had such a lovely day! What happy memories! Here is the simple card I made for Jason.   The sentiment just says it all for me!

STAMP SET: “Word Play”

PATTERNED PAPER: Patterns in Cherry Cobbler and Marina Mis and Love Letter Designer Series Paper

CARDSTOCK: Crumb Cake Base, Marina Mist, Pear Pizzazz, Basic Black

Today  I haven’t seen much of him at all.  We have probably spoken for a grand total of 3 minutes today.  He is busy down at our new place sorting out some of the cabling before they start on the Colourbond and Gyprocking (hopefully next week)  It is not the most romantic way to spend the day but we will probably just order in take away and crack open a bottle of bubbly this evening.  At least when our 12th Wedding Anniversary comes around next year we will be settled in our new place.

Here are a few pics showing where we are up to now…….

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY

I hope all the Dads have enjoyed a lovely FATHER’S DAY today.  Of course,  I couldn’t let the day go by without sharing a “Father’s Day Card”.  It gave me the opportunity to have a little play with the NEW NEWSPRINT Designer Series Paper in the BRAND NEW catalogue

With the release of the NEW 2010/ 2011 Catalogue comes the NEW Colour Renovation.  The New catalogue contains some new regular colours as well as new “In COLOURS”.  I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of my new cardstock and inkpads and was delighted to stumble across the following “tool” on the Stampin’ Up! Website.  Not only is there the opportunity to VIEW the new colours you can have a ‘play’ with the colour combinations- by clicking on the colours and applying them to the sample cards…  Click on the following link to see what I mean…..  It is not quite as fun as making a card or scrapbook in real life but it’s LOTS of fun and I will probably have to continue to play with the colour combinations on this ‘tool’ while I wait for my parcel to arrive!

Happy Thoughts make happy days

Happy thoughts make happy days”

This is a special card I made for a special friend on a very significant day!   I haven’t given it to her yet…so I hope she doesn’t sneak a peek before I have given it to her.  I liked the sentiment because I think that although it can be interpreted in many ways- it holds a special significance for me today.  Even at sad times- focusing on the happy moments and happy memories is very important.

I have used a few NEW items from the catalogue and actually ‘cased’ the design for my card from the front of the BRAND NEW catalogue.   The flower and sentiment is from the “Apple Blossoms” Stamp set which is a Level 2 HOSTESS stamp set (available when workshop sales reach $600)  I stamped the flower several times and then held the layers together with a small brad.

I have used a small amount of the “Greenhouse gala” Designer Series paper and Kraft (oops) CRUMB CAKE Cardstock (“Kraft” is now known as ”crumbcake”  I  love the ever versatile “Top Note Die” and also used two of the embossing folders- “perfect polka dots” and “vintage wallpaper”
