As many of my blog readers know- I am a member of the Stampamemory Design Team- a website dedicated to scrapbooking using Stampin’ Up! products. Today marks the launch of our bi-monthly challenge- This month I am very excited to be sponsoring the challenges and will have the honour of selecting the winner and awarding the prizes!
So what do you need to do to take part? For full details please go to http://www.stampamemory.com Basically you need to complete a layout that meets the challenge requirements. The layout needs to be uploaded to your blog OR an online gallery (if you don’t have a blog) and then linked to the STAMPAMEMORY WEBSITE.
You will have until Friday 15th January, midnight to get your entries in and I will be thrilled to announce the winner on Sunday 17th January
SAM CREATIVE CHALLENGE # 1
“Scrapbook a Christmas Photo. I have such a stockpile of photos from Christmases past and know that there are many other scrapbookers who can relate to this. Complete a scrapbook page from Christmas 2009 while the memories are still fresh in your mind OR pull out one of those Christmas photos that have been sitting waiting to be scrapped.”
For my layout- I am actually using photos from 2006- Photos that have been sitting waiting to be scrapped for 3 years…..better late than never!!!! (……..and one day I will find the time to go back and do their FIRST Christmas LOL!) On a more serious note that is one of the things I try to keep in mind when scrapbooking. I try not to be too concerned about “catching up” but rather enjoying the process and scrapbooking what inspires me at the time.
Anyway- enough of my rambling… Here is the layout…. My oldest son, Jared with Santa (He was 4 years old at the time)
…………and my reluctant 2.5 year old (at the time) Don’t get me wrong…He was thrilled to see Santa…..just not quite as thrilled about staying still for a photo
You might think you’re seeing double….and in some ways you are. Yes- I used the same general layout, colours and elements I simply used different photos and each layout will go into their separate albums. (Why re-invent the wheel?)
Here is a close up of the title. The cardstock, patterned paper and cardstock stickers all come from the “I Wish” Simply Scrappin’ Kit. I have simply added some styled silver Hodgepodge Hardware (on special this month), some polka dot ribbon (from the Summer Mini) and a rhinestone brad. On the background I also used the “Snow Swirled” Stamp set which is designed to work beautifully with the “I wish” Simply Scrappin Kit and also the flourish from “Baroque Motifs” (a personal favourite) The year has been stamped using “Calendar Alphabet & Numbers”
Here is a close up of the baubles. I was hoping it would look as though the baubles have been suspended by the thread. I have simply poked two holes in the cardstock base- one at the top of the ribbon and the other right on top of the baubles. This gives me two points so that I can feed the thread through from the front of the cardstock to the back of the cardstock and then back through the second hole to the front again . I have tied the thread at the front and made a little bow.
