Book week dress ups!
My kids love Book Week dress ups but with 4 kids to get organised I like simple, easy ideas! This year I think I nailed simple and easy!
Adam suggested the following idea…… Thing 1 and Thing 2 from “Cat in the Hat” (by Dr Seuss)
Here is a close up of the panels on their shirts. I cut the felt circles by hand and simply pinned them to their shirts.
The letters and numbers were cut out using my trusty Bigshot. I used the Simple Letters Alphabet Bigz Dies which retire in the catalogue on the 31st of August. They are being offered at a 25% discount and are now only $119.96. Please let me know soon if you’d like to order a set of these alphas to cut out unlimited letters out of an assortment of materials. As you can see here I have cut out felt. They’d also look great cut out of fabric and to make a personalised library bag. Of course, I’ve used them heaps of times for my scrapbook pages. They would also be great in a classroom for sight words, posters, practising spelling words, etc.
With the simple and easy idea in mind- I just secured them with a few dots of liquid glue from the catalogue. It doesn’t look like the letters will be coming off the felt circles in a hurry!
Jared wanted to dress up as Greg Heffley from “Diary of a Wimpy Kid”. His outfit was simple- A white top and black shorts and a backpack.
I was also able to use my Bigshot to complete the finishing touches for Jared’s super simple costume. I used the same lettering for the felt word on the diary. I also ran a piece of yellow foam through the Bighshot with my circles die to create a piece of swiss cheese. For those who have read the book (or seen the movie) you’ll understand what I mean when I mention the words “Watch out for the Cheese touch!”
As the saying goes “There’s no show without Punch” so here is Luke dressed up too. His Kindergarten didn’t have a dress up day for “Book Week”, however they had a special theme day called “Wacky Wednesday” and they had to dress up in a crazy outfit. I didn’t use any Stampin’ Up! supplies for his outfit but I had to include him too!
Here are my four lovely people all dressed ready for dress up day at school this morning. Don’t they look fab? 🙂
Oh and when we arrived at school it was a lovely surprise to see that Erin and Adam’s costumes complemented their Teacher’s costume perfectly!
