Crazy for Christmas
One of the stamp sets that is on special this month is a set known as “Crazy for Christmas” It features 4 long stamps- one is a row of Christmas trees, a row of presents, a row of baubles and a Christmas sentiment that reads “Merry and bright-Ho Ho Ho! -’tis the season-joy- deck the halls”.
What I like about this set is that you can create different cards using a simple design and just varying the colours used. It is a great set to use when you have lots of Christmas cards to make but you don’t want to ‘re-invent’ the wheel and come up with a totally different design for each card. Just minor variations- make for a unique card.
During December, if you spend $20 on regular merchandise you can select “Crazy for Christmas” for 20% off- making it only $35.96.
This afternoon I made a few Christmas cards using this stamp set- Each card uses a piece of ribbon, a scrap of patterned paper and at least one scrap of cardstock. I just varied the design slightly for each card to make them all a little different.
For the first card- I used the Wintergreen patterned paper (with the colours Always Artichoke, Certainly Celery, Sage Shadow and Soft Sky) I used the mat pack to add the row of holes along the cardstock to tie it in with the pattern on the paper. The image is stamped in Stazon Black ink and coloured using markers and blender pens.
The second card also uses paper from the Wintergreen Patterned paper pack– but it looks very different to the first card- don’t you think? On this card I stamped the image in Sage shadow onto Soft Sky cardstock. The main feature of this card is the addition of dazzling diamonds glitter to the baubles and the snowflake design on the patterned paper. It is hard to see in the photo- but looks quite effective
I also used glitter on the third card- where I have used the Holiday Harmony Patterned paper and a snow flake stamp from “Season of Joy” (both of which were in the SPRING Mini Catalogue so they are no longer available) and I stamped the image in Always Artichoke and added the sentiment across to the top.
The fourth card also makes use of the Holiday Harmony patterned paper. The colours in this card are Always Artichoke, Purely Pomegranate and River Rock. I mounted the coloured image using dimensionals but also inked around the edges in River Rock using a SU sponge– to give it added dimension.
The final two cards are made with paper from the Dashing Patterned Paper Pack. I love the colour combination of Real Red, Old Olive, River Rock and Very Vanilla. On the final card I used the Cutter Kit which has a seven sided distressing tool to distress the edges of the old olive cardstock (The Cutter kit also has a cutting blade, a scorer and a perforator- all on a key chain- quite a nifty little collection of tools that can fit in the palm of your hand)
The other neat thing about the “Crazy for Christmas” Stamp set is that it is very versatile! You can use the row of presents on a Birthday card, even the baubles could become balloons or lollipops if stamped upside down!
