Happy Birthday Dad
It’s my Dad’s Birthday today. He’s one of those guys who is terribly difficult to buy for. For previous birthdays we have even gone to great lengths such as bought vouchers for him to go sky-diving- just so that we could buy him something he didn’t already have. Well unfortunately this year I didn’t have any great ideas so the poor guy received a block of chocolate and a big wad of scratchies. When we left his house today- only two remained and so far none of the scratchies were winners. Keep your fingers crossed one of the remaing scratchies is a winner!
Of course- it wouldn’t seem right to just hand him the block of chocolate. Of course, it had to be presented “Miriam-style” 🙂 Yes I know! I know! I’ve shown these chocolate boxes before MANY times- but I just love them……
The base is “Basic Gray” and I have stamped the stars from the “Starring You” stamp set. “Starring you” is one of the stamp sets that you can purchase for 20% off this month with every purchase of a Simply Sent Card Elements Kit
……and lifting the ribbon to reveal the treats
Normally when I make these boxes I use the 150g blocks. I was disappointed to find that you can no longer purchase them in the 150g size (I think the smaller size is now 110g) I bought the family block size and used a 12 x 12 sheet of cardstock and had to adjust the measurements to make it fit. What is great about this simple design is that once you know how to make them- it is oh so easy to use the block of chocolate to adjust the measurements.
Here is a close up of the decoration at the front
The Happy Birthday Stamp is from the Spring Mini (which is only current for another 6 weeks- don’t miss the opportunity to order items from this catalogue!) I have also used a stamp from the “Greetings Eight” Stamp set. I stamped once on Kraft and then a second time on Baja Breeze. I cut the letter ‘d’ from the Baja breeze cardstock and attached it to the Kraft cardstock. I have also used one of the lovely corduroy buttons from the Spring Mini Catalogue (again only available for a further 6 weeks!)
Anyway- I must go and prepare for the cardmaking class at my place tomorrow night. I have a few spare spots available due to a few unavoidable cancellations. Get in touch if you would like to secure a spot for yourself (First in best dressed 🙂 )
