Well hello there

The other day I shared a little box.  While the concept of the box is great- the colour combinations weren’t working for me at all.  I was determined however, to make use the of Beyond the Garden Designer series paper. It is designed to work with the really lovely “Fabulous Floret Stamp set” but as I don’t have that stamp set I was feeling a little stumped.  Yes- we all have those creative blocks sometimes.

The paper looked appealing enough in the catalogue for me to purchase so I knew I could make it work….and make it work I did.  What I did was take something that wasn’t working for me in the beginning (the paper) and teamed it up with a few things I LOVE.  I love love LOVE the colours Blushing Bride (lovely musk pink) and Rose Red (A deep warm pink) These aren’t the colours indicated as a match for the patterned paper in the mini catalogue but I could see hints of these colours in elements on some of the sheets of paper.  I also LOVE the stamps sets called “Creative Elements” and “My Friend”. So I combined the patterned paper with some favourite stamp sets and got this…… In the end I was really happy with how it turned out.  What do you think?

My next problem was that I couldn’t decide whether to put the sentiment in centre, towards the top OR towards the bottom….so I tested them all out! 🙂

Do you have a preference?  I asked my husband what he liked best and he politely responded by saying “You can do whatever you want!”   Well Yes of course I can- I already knew that!

So…I haven’t shared a scrapbook page in a while.  Do you want to see one of those?  Stay tuned- I might just have one to share.

Wine Bottle Tags

A super simple idea for a gift! Add a wine bottle tag!  Imagine popping around to dinner with a friend and taking a bottle of wine.  Adding a wine tag adds a personal touch.    It makes it oh so easy to crack open that bottle of wine….AND you can sit and enjoy the tag while you finish the bottle together!

I used the “Two Tags die”  (page 159) with  my bigshot to cut out the tag.  I then used a circle punch so I could fit the tag over the neck of the wine bottle.  It is probably difficult to see the actual tag in the following photo- largely because I took the photo on my iphone (and I was in a hurry) but also because the colours blend so nicely into the colours on the wine bottle- but that’s the idea, right?

The tag could be decorated in any number of ways but I wanted to add a flower.  I simply punched out several shapes from a piece of blushing bride cardstock using my scallop circle punch.  I scrunched and distressed the pieces to break down the fibres.  The ‘blushing bride‘ colour is a lovely dusty pink but it is not quite the colour of the pink on this bottle of “Vintage Bella” so I spritzed the cardstock with Silver Foil Smooth Spritz (page 147)  Not only did this bring the colour closer to the pink colour in the label and add a touch of sparkle- but it also made the cardstock moist enough to scrunch and shape into a flower.  The smooth spritz didn’t take long to dry and helped to keep the shape of the flower.  A lovely vintage brad was all that was needed to hold the pieces together

I have fallen in love with the gorgeous butterfly dies in the new catalogue.  There is the “Beautiful butterflies Bigz Die”  (pg 154) where you can cut out 6 lovely butterflies in one pass through the Big shot.  There is also the “Beautiful wings embosslits die” on page 151.  Not only does it cut out the butterflies but is also embosses them!  Love Love Love them!!!! I have used a combination of these butterflies on the card below.  The butterflies would not be complete without the beautiful NEW stick on rhinestones!  You just HAVE to get yourself some of these!

The base of the card is the gorgeous NEW Pink…… Mmm! Blushing Bride– is definitely MY kind of pink.  It is a lovely soft, dusty pink! The base of the card has a piece of “Sweet and sour speciality designer series paper”  on it.  This pack of DSP has gloss on one side of each sheet.   I love the embossed effect and it inspired  me to add an embossed section of my own on the bottom left hand corner using the absolutely gorgeous “Just Believe” stamp set.  I wanted the embossed area to be rose red- but alas we don’t have rose red embossing powder so I inked up the stamp in versamark then took this stamp and inked it up with a layer of rose red ink BEFORE stamping it onto the paper.  I then sprinkled on CLEAR embossing powder- and then TA DA rose red coloured embossing!

I completed this card for a young girl who celebrated her birthday recently….however I just checked out Just Add Ink Challenge # 38 and realised that it meets the criteria for the challenge.  To check out the other beautiful creations with pink and bling please go to
