I hope you’re not all “Christmassed out”- Guest Contributors!

I hope you’re not all “Christmassed out” because I have a few more Christmassy things to share with you.  Yesterday I finally finished packing up my Christmas tree and got it out of the house for another 11 months.  I have packed away the Chrissy cards….but before boxing everything away I snapped a few photos of some handmade cards that I received at Christmas time.

The first card was made by Liisa- It was the first handmade card to hit my letterbox and I was so chuffed that she had gone to so much trouble….  Liisa has used the Christmas stamp from the  ”Cute and Curly” Stamp set punch and the matching curly label punch.  I think the Riding hood red striped grosgrain ribbon really finishes the card off- don’t you agree?

The second card was made by one of my best customers (and she also happens to be my sister :-) )  Linda has used the “Season of Joy Stamp” set and a selection of some of my favourite prints from the “Holiday Treasures” and “Ski Slope” Designer series paper packs.   I love layered cards- and think she has done a wonderful job!

The third card was made by Gail. I just love the use of the “Snow Swirled” stamp set to create these adorable baubles.  Gail created a trim with the Eyelet border punch and each ‘bauble’ was punched out using the scallop circle punch.

Gail also made this adorable box filled with little Santa chocolates and a lovely Christmas decoration.  This was a little gift that Gail had made for a little present exchange game at Playgroup.  The game involved making the choice between selecting a pressie from under the tree OR being able to “steal” a pressie from anyone else who had already made a selection.  Lucky ol’ me was last to have a turn so I was able to select any present I liked.  I am sure you will agree that it was worth “Stooping to stealing” just to be able to bring this home with me!

I’m sure you will agree that I am very lucky to be surrounded by such creative people!

With the Summer holidays bringing a change of pace to our little household I managed to find some time for some scrapbooking.  I have snapped a few photos to share with you…so please be sure to come back tomorrow.

Cheers!

Miriam

Merry and Bright…….

I must admit that I am someone who loves traditional Christmas colours but of course there are so many ways to make non-traditional colours look “Christmassy”

Here is a card I have created using non-traditional colours.

The card base is Tempting Turquoise with Rose Red, Old Olive and Whisper White.    To create the background I have stamped an image from “Frames with a Flourish“.  The rest of the card is comprised of images from “Season of Joy“.  The gorgeous swirly Christmas tree has an edge of Fine Supernova glitter.  Do you like how straight I managed to get the strip of Turquoise glitter?  No! My hands are not that steady! I placed a piece of sticky strip across the cardstock. When you peel the top layer it reveals the perfect sticky surface to adhere the supernova glitter!

Carousel Note Christmas card

At the end of July, we celebrated Christmas a little early with a gathering of papercraft enthusiasts at my place- making a start on Christmas cards.  A good time was had by all-with the wine flowing and the chocolate coated mini Christmas puddings disappearing quickly!

Are you still keen to make a start on some Christmas cards?  The cardmaking session this month will see us creating another Christmas card for you to put aside ready for Christmas.  We will also be making a Father’s Day card and a card for the arrival of a new baby. Are you tempted to come along?…… Please stay tuned for further details.

One of the cards I showed the participants was the following card I made using the Carousel Notes.  The carousel notes are on page 131 of the catalogue.  You receive 12 scalloped circles- 4 each of Ruby red, Kiwi Kiss and Baja Breeze as well as 12 Chocolate Chip envelopes.  Each scalloped circle is almost 15cm wide and you can decorate them in any number of ways.  You could create a postcard-style card, secure two pieces together- it is only limited by your imagination.  (I have enjoyed using them as a feature on my scrapbook pages as well!)

Anyway I used mine to create a Christmas card in the shape of a Christmas Bauble.  I thought a card like this might be great for a hard to buy adult at Christmas time.  How nice would this look on the Christmas tree?

I love the fact that the colours in the Carousel notes set are a great match for the Holiday Treasures Designer Series paper (page 134 of the catalogue) The Carousel notes come in Kiwi Kiss whereas the green in the Designer series paper is Old Olive- however I have found that the papers still work nicely (I find Old Olive quite similar to Kiwi Kiss- just slightly darker)

To create the card I used the bottom of the scalloped circle to trace onto a piece of the designer series paper.  I secured this patterned paper onto the scallop circle- but only around the edges.  I left the top open to create a pocket for a note, a gift voucher or money.

I then added a stip of ruby red cardstock to the open top of the patterned paper.  I thought this might help to reinforce the area where you would slide in your gift card.  It also gave me the ideal place to stamp a Christmas greeting.  I used a stamp from Many Merry Messages (pg 113)

I stamped the Christmas tree from Season of Joy onto cardstock and then cut out the imge.  Before securing it to the Christmas card I added some Fine Supernova glitter. (page 145) It was simply a matter of using the two way glue pen around the edge of the Christmas tree,  sprinkling on the glitter and allowing it to dry.

To finish off the card- and of course to make it look like a Christmas bauble I used the Round Tab Punch (page 153), folded the punched out shape in half and then added some Hemp twine (page 151)

If you would like to make some cards like this I would recommend
